I had less idea about my stance in writing. Stance is the role or behavior of the writer. It is the writer’s position. I recognized that every writing has a different stance and that mine changes depending on what I’m writing about, and how I’m writing. It’s my attitude toward the topic. It could include my tone in the writing. Even if I am writing about the same topic, my stance would be different from writing a memo than writing an engineering proposal. The latter will be much more serious.

For example, in our group’s engineering proposal, I wrote the introduction starting with the suffering in California due to the blackout. I addressed how serious it is, and was passionate to come up with a possible solution.
